Peguis Recreation held a skateboard park event at the Multiplex on Sunday July 7 which shows that interest in skateboarding is high among the youth of Peguis. Skateboard ramps, equipment tables and helmets sprouted up in a few minutes and the event was on. Youth contests were held. Everyone went home with prizes and memories of a funfilled day. No bruises or injuries were reported.

Jonathan Flett, Recreation Director, told Terra Indigena, “The kids really loved it. They’re very interested in skateboarding. Over 60 kids came through here. I think I can tell that our community really needs a skate park. The treaty grounds would be the ideal setting.”
Fane Smaell is a skateboard entrepreneur in Winnipeg who owns SK8. He and friend Kyle were at the event. “We came to do a demonstration for kids on how to skateboard because they’re trying to build a skateboard park here in Peguis,” he said.
“A big thanks to Peguis Jordan’s Principle, Peguis CFS, Sk8 Skate and Drop in Skate Parks for making this day possible!”
